Let’s face it, women’s bodies are pretty incredible – the way we can grow and birth a whole other human is kind of mind blowing when you think about it! However, if we look beyond our growing bump, pregnancy glow, and resultant beautiful babies, we can sometimes find a sense of disconnect to (or even dislike of) the post-pregnancy version of our bodies…even more so after the second or third or…gulp…fourth, fifth…that can often continue for months or even years after.
We’re not just talking about that stubborn tummy cushioning that just won’t budge, our post birth scars or pregnancy stretch marks or the dimples and wobbles that appear to multiply in the blink of an eye. In so many of us, our bodies just don’t feel or move the way they used to. A niggle here, a pinch there and in some cases a whole world of pain – all of which serve to scare us even further away from moving our bodies, perpetuating the vicious cycle of declining fitness and poor body image.
Whether you’re a newly post-partum or years down the track, it is absolutely possible to exercise and enjoy moving your body! Founder of the Fit Mummy Project, Kimmy Smith, is on a mission to support and empower women to embrace motherhood by creating a beautiful, fit and strong new body and life. Kimmy will discuss how with a simple shift in our mindset, we can celebrate everything our amazing bodies have achieved and take a more positive approach to weight loss, strengthening and well-being postnatally and beyond.
Joining Kimmy will be Mum Society resident health physio Lyz Evans of Women in Focus Physiotherapy, who will share her knowledge of how to return to exercise safely and bring our bodies back into equilibrium after the internal upheaval of pregnancy (hello pelvic floor!).
Come and join us at Centennial Homestead on 20th September for an uplifting morning of fun, laughs, great coffee and fabulous food – oh, and you may just find your Move-It-Mojo while you’re there!
